Brazilian agate was cut in Idar Oberstein, Germany from 1800 – 1940.

This is a rather complex hook. The needles are steel which are soldered onto brass male threads. The solder join is covered with a decorative silver cone. The handle has complimentary decorative silver work over brass female threads. Agate handle is most likely dyed.
